About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a highly motivated, multi-jurisdictional team advising a high growth and dynamic business unit. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, iptiQ EMEA, your main responsibilities will be:

  • to be a trusted, strategic partner to the iptiQ EMEA team by providing timely, practical high quality legal advice;
  • providing end to end legal support relating to both the on-boarding of new partners and the account management of existing partners. This will include legal structuring advice, as well as leading legal drafting and negotiation of transaction documentation (NDA, MOU, Distribution Agreements, Co-operation Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements);
  • advising on core life insurance products (term life, whole of life, critical illness and income protection) licensing and other retail insurance related regulatory requirements;
  • engaging and managing external legal counsel appropriately ensuring optimal cost efficiency;
  • supporting the internal governance processes to ensure that legal risks are appropriately articulated in internal referral documents and mitigated to the extent possible in the final transaction documents;
  • providing ongoing support to existing partners to include product development and launch, restructuring advice, contract amendment and legal oversight of distributors and outsource providers.

About You

Skills and Experience

  • Certified lawyer with 5+ years experience in the primary life insurance market in France gained within a well respected global organisation or law firm;
  • Experience in life insurance product development and policyholder documentation;
  • Strong technical ability in corporate and commercial law including drafting and legal risk analysis;
  • Ability to co-lead transactions with the deal manager and drive forward the legal workstream;
  • Agile mindset – able to work both independently and as part of a team to navigate ambiguity and drive sustainable performance;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skill with a proven ability to work in cross functional teams;
  • Ability to take the initiative and take accountability in an entrepreneurial environment - passionate about the success of the business.

Language

  • Fluent in French and English. German or Spanish language skills an advantage.
