Research Assistant - Competition Law

BEUC, the European Consumer Organisation, is looking for a research assistant to reinforce its Legal and Economic Department, in particular on files related to competition law and regulation in the digital economy. The main role is to undertake research and support the competition law team.

The tasks of the position will include:

  • Carrying-out research on the role of competition law enforcement and regulation in the digital economy, with a focus on online platforms;
  • helping develop an interdisciplinary approach to competition law and other relevant areas of law, such as data protection and consumer law and their enforcement;
  • analysing and writing reports about relevant academic literature and studies.

The main qualifications we are looking for are:

  • an advanced University degree in Law or Economics with a specialisation in EU competition law;
  • research experience in an academic institution and/or practical experience in the application of competition law would be an advantage;
  • excellent analytical and writing skills in English; knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage;
  • a proven ability to understand, appreciate and explain complex legal and economic questions;
  • a demonstrable interest in new technologies, articulating and defending the consumer interest and ensuring a fair digital transformation of our society;
  • good organisational/project management skills;
  • ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • team player; ability to perform under pressure; well organised.
