The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for supporting the overall legal strategy as well as business objectives for LM Wind Power. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will also include contract drafting, review and negotiation, dispute management, risk mitigation, legal governance & compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Support legal strategy and direction for LM Wind Power under guidance from LM Wind Power General Counsel;
  • Together with the LM Legal Team evaluate legal risks and develop procedures and policies to mitigate such risks;
  • Support LM General Counsel and business leaders on a wide variety of legal issues related to LM Wind Power operations and commercial transactions;
  • Contract drafting & review, negotiation, dispute management and training on blade sales related matters - work closely with our Global Sales Team supporting in meeting their business objectives while maintaining independence in counsel;
  • Drafting, review and negotiating agreements within new blade developments and R&D;
  • Support matters on e.g. litigation, dispute management, real estate, leasing, corporate law, R&D etc. in close corporation with other legal and functional leaders;
  • Cooperate with and manage outside counsels;
  • Develop and maintain commercial policies and procedures and monitor to ensure compliance;
  • Work with other counsels in GE Renewable Energy and other GE businesses to develop best practices across GE Renewable Energy.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in commercial transactions and general corporate law based on experience at a law firm or corporate legal department;
  • Law degree from an accredited university or college;
  • Strong oral and written communication and persuasive skills, including executive-level communication;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to take initiative and act independently and with good judgment, with little or limited daily supervision or guidance;
  • Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and teamwork;
  • Strong problem-solving skills, pragmatism and flexibility/resilience;
  • Ability to interact effectively cross functionally and with senior management and peers and all other levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work in a complex and matrixed organization in a collaborative and boundaryless manner and to simultaneously manage varied tasks and to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing among them;
  • Fluency in English essential;
  • Some travel activity should be expected.
