We have recently announced an exciting 18-24 month journey to create a fully standalone CHC business (separating the Business Unit from our Pharma company heritage, processes etc), as we target to create the best FAST MOVING CONSUMER HEALTH company, which will require us to retain, attract and grow the best leaders in our industry.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Drive the global legal strategy and execution on all CHC Industrial Affairs and R&D activities
  • The position will report to the Global Legal Head of CHC GBU and will be a member of the CHC Legal Leadership Team
  • The CHC Legal Team is built on the aspiration “Serve adding value as trusted partners to the business, enabling its sustainable growth, caring about our consumers and people while protecting Sanofi´s independence”
  • We do so by delivering qualitative and timely legal advice, optimizing processes and resources, spotting trends and shaping the external environment, leveraging on local legal teams and sharing accountability with the business for successes and failures
  • Embracing these principles is key to succeed in the position. Role modelling the Sanofi’s values is another critical attribute

KEY RESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute and execute on the global strategy of CHC Industrial Affairs and R&D
  • Render effective and thoughtful advice to the CHC Industrial Affairs leadership team
  • Proactively support the global R&D team, with special dedication to global internal development and Development Centres
  • Support the management of existing and new external contract manufacturing organizations at global level, overseeing this activity across geographies
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain and quality to ensure processes meet legal requirements, standards and policies
  • Collaborate with other functions and local legal teams as subject-matter expert, on M&A, business development projects, inter alia
  • Negotiate with institutions (such as Universities), suppliers, vendors and other service providers in support of activities within your scope, including assertion of our rights vis-à-vis such third parties, where necessary
  • Give legal guidance on site inspections from competent authorities and issue management, where applicable
  • Oversee outside counsel partnerships, including selecting, budgeting, managing and evaluating external counsel in countries where such support is needed, and there is no local legal resource
  • Propose and define ways of working with global and local LEBI teams to effectively and efficiently execute on the Industrial Affairs and R&D strategy
  • Assist in drafting policies and provide relevant trainings
  • Represent Sanofi CHC in Forums with other subject-matter experts

  • Internal: business partners mentioned above, internal Legal and Ethics and Business Integrity team at global and local level
  • External: competent authorities, third parties - including public and private institutions-external law firms/counselors

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • J.D. or foreign equivalent

Required knowledge and/or experience

  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience in similar roles in the pharmaceutical or food industry
  • Good communications skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in crisis management on product liability cases
  • Proven track record in establishing and managing complex third party collaborations and issues
  • Sound knowledge on technical quality guidelines and regulations, is a plus

Language skills

  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills in English
  • French language skills favourable, but not a must
