You will be an integral part of the continued rapid growth of Cognizant’s European operations, both in terms of existing service lines and new growth areas.
Your main focus will be on supporting and leading parts of the business in the DACH region (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) and other large markets in Continental Europe. The role will involve daily exposure to our clients and Cognizant senior management and, although this role will be part of the EMEA LATAM legal team, you will work very closely with Cognizant’s legal, business and other teams around the world.
Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting, negotiating and interpreting a wide variety of commercial issues and transactions, varying in nature, complexity and value, from a simple NDA or a consultancy contract to a multi-million dollar complex technology (robotics, cloud, etc.) or business outsourcing agreement. Other responsibilities include advising on corporate transactions and integration activities and promoting strong corporate governance and risk mitigation practices, as well as advising on ad-hoc issues that arise on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the legal review and negotiation of commercial agreements with clients in a broad range of industries and work on all phases of deals, ranging from the proposal/bid review stages, right through to final negotiation, escalation to senior Cognizant leadership and dealing with any post signature issues. This is also an opportunity to really get under the skin of the business and develop close working relationships with the deal-making teams and experience the digitalization of an industry, first hand.
While deep commercial law experience is essential to this role, you must come with a commercial mind set, and a taste and eagerness for technical innovation. Your experience in working on IT contracts, advising on GDPR and IP related issues must be accompanied by the ability to balance legal risks with commercial and operational needs of the business. You should be able to demonstrate strong, effective and impactful communication skills and leadership with people at all levels and backgrounds, being able to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment.
We are looking for a senior professional with at least ten years of post-qualification experience, which ideally include work in private practice and an equivalent in-house position in a multinational corporation. Specialized expertise in the regulatory requirements of the banking and financial services or life sciences industries and how they relate to IT outsourcings are welcomed.
