The Legal Counsel will be responsible for managing legal requirements with expertise on legal policies, conditions, risks and liability and pro-actively advises the business on legal matters, this in order to make sure the organization is exposed to an acceptable level of legal risks, liability and costs. The Legal Counsel participates in contract negotiations with third parties if required. Legal Counsel will also act as main contact and handling corporate secretary matters for all French group companies and as deputy contact for the French listed company.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Deliver high quality legal advice timely to the business in a practical and commercially focussed way in relation to all relevant matters that reduce risk, resolve issues and maximise the opportunity for the business to deliver on its goals;
  • Ensure compliance with all regarding policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Ensure the provision of excellent drafting, negotiating and management of contracts with customers and suppliers in a timely and effective way;
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights;
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations;
  • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces;
  • Conduct research and analysis of the organization's legal issues;
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and advise the organization on how to proceed;
  • Prepare and file legal documents (e.g. suits, appeals, contracts, deeds);
  • Acting as main contact and handling corporate secretary matters for all French group companies and as deputy contact for the French listed company; and liaise with external lawyers with that respect;
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation;
  • Manage external lawyers and/or other providers.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • BSc degree in Law or higher;
  • 3 years or more of professional experience in corporate law or similar environment;
  • Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment;
  • Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation;
  • Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies;
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity;
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information;
  • Service-oriented, with a positive attitude;
  • Able to work efficiently under deadlines;
  • Outstanding communication skills;
  • Business fluent English language skills; operative level proficiency in Legal English;
  • Experience with French corporate law topics and French listed companies preferrable;
  • Intellectual Property law knowledge preferrable.
