About the Job

The Legal team of Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A. is looking to recruit a lawyer to support Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A’s growing Wealth Management business divisions. As a guide, you have relevant wealth management and/or lending experience equivalent to that of a lawyer of a minimum of 5+ years’ post-qualification in an in-house legal department or a major law firm advising on cross-border finance transactions and/or wealth management products and services. Working as part of a dynamic and collegiate team, the successful candidate will work with a rapidly expanding business focusing on a client base of high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, their family offices and corporate structures in Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region as well as international clients. The successful candidate will be part of a team that assists with all legal aspects of the day to day operations as well as the broader regulatory, product, project and governance aspects of Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A.’s business.

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal support for Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A.’s business and in particular Wealth Management in relation to all of its activities including discretionary and advisory mandates, custody, lending and deposits (including regulated mortgages and strategic lending), wealth planning and product development;
  • Assisting with the coordination of other legal teams and other control and risk functions, such as Compliance, AFC and Audit;
  • Fostering a collaborative working relationship with colleagues outside Luxembourg, in particular Germany, Switzerland, France and the UK, and represent the views of Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A. on bank-wide Legal Department initiatives;
  • Engaging and managing, to the extent considered appropriate, external lawyers;
  • Advising the business in relation to regulatory change which may impact the business and assisting in the implementation of the same;
  • Partnering closely with product specialists and other business people in developing unique products and solutions for Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A.’s clients;
  • Supporting initiatives within the wider Deutsche Bank group.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.), a Luxembourg or French bar exam (CCDL, CAPA or equivalent) or any other European bar would be an advantage;
  • Experience with a range of products and services typically offered in the wealth management and/or corporate lending space – MCD lending, deposits and alternative investment vehicle experience is desirable;
  • Familiar with cross-border operating models and working with resident non-domiciled clients;
  • Experienced in managing external counsel, including agreeing fee estimates and scope of assignments;
  • Comfortable working with foreign laws, supported by departmental colleagues and, where appropriate, external counsel;
  • Awareness of regulatory change in the wealth management and corporate lending spheres;
  • Fluent command of English and French, both written and spoken – German will be an asset;
  • Highly motivated and efficient way of working, good commercial sense and willingness to learn new areas of law and how Deutsche Bank operates;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic international environment and to relate to different business perspectives and approaches to issues arising;
  • Competence to operate in a matrix environment and a drive to achieve solutions;
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
