As the Legal Director, you will support the Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) business, handling commercial and transactional activities, litigation and dispute resolution, corporate and company secretarial matters, employment, compliance, real estate and a diverse range of other legal matters.

General Counseling

  • Advise and collaborate with business teams and other support functions on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial, litigation and dispute resolution and compliance;
  • Serve as the regional lead and coordinate with corporate legal speciality teams to ensure that a consistent and appropriate approach to relevant speciality areas is adopted in EMEA.

Commercial

  • Advise key stakeholders in EDS on contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties, including drafting, reviewing and analysing contractual terms;
  • Develop strategies for contracting with customers, suppliers and other third parties that maximize contractual benefits and minimize risk;
  • Analyze and resolve warranty, pricing and other disputes with customers, suppliers and other third parties.

Corporate

  • Manage legal support for corporate and company secretarial work with respect to a significant portfolio of Aptiv subsidiaries in EMEA;
  • Employment;
  • Advise and collaborate with the HR and business teams on employment-related matters such as policies, disputes, performance management and reorganizations.

Your Background

  • Qualified to practice as an attorney in Ireland or another EU jurisdiction;
  • Fluent English. Fluency in German or another language would be an advantage;
  • 7-8+ years of experience as an attorney advising multi-national organizations on complex global matters and transaction;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Sophisticated law firm experience;
  • Experience working in a corporate legal environment with increasing levels of responsibility preferred;
  • Ability to handle a variety of complex legal matters and identify, anticipate, and develop solutions-oriented strategies that mitigate legal risks, while achieving commercial objectives;
  • Ability to work well independently and lead on projects as part of a global team that manages international transactions and projects in a fast-paced environment;
  • Experience working on matters involving “cutting edge” technology;
  • Ability to serve as a business partner and build consensus on complex legal and business issues while viewing legal issues through a business lens.
