The Team
We are seeking a highly skilled senior advertising lawyer to join our Global Legal EU team based in London. This team provides a broad range of commercial support to multiple business units within TikTok and its sister apps including TikTok's advertising sales teams and associated marketing, creative, trading and partnership teams.
The Role
Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional who brings both private practice and in-house experience of supporting digital media and tech industries.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Legal (Regional) for the UK, Europe and Israel, you will primarily support TikTok's advertising sales teams, as well as associated marketing teams across the region, including supporting our global accounts and agencies team.
However, as part of a full service commercial team you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of matters, including for example, supporting the creative and partnership teams. You will work with internal stakeholders (both business and legal) at a global, regional and local level, both setting and implementing strategy from a legal perspective.

Responsibilities
As part of a full service commercial legal team, you will primarily support our international advertising sales and marketing function by:
- engaging strong analytic capabilities to advise on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to ad sales, commercial incentives and ad content creation;
- creating templates, resources (including playbooks) and training materials and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements supporting multiple stakeholders across TikTok, including for media buying, trading, brand partnerships and content productions. At this level you will take responsibility for managing strategic clients on a global and regional level;
- identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures and develop and implement strategies to scale and standardise the use of legal resources;
- partnering with international legal colleagues to review, update and create global terms and ensure a scaled approach to their implementation and acceptance by clients. You will coordinate the legal response to advertiser questionnaires, including on data privacy & regulatory developments;
- collaborating effectively with global, regional and local cross functional teams (including sales ops, finance, trading, product, partnerships, brand safety, data privacy and information security) to provide legal input on everything from strategy to client queries;
- managing a team, taking responsibility for ensuring effective allocation of legal resources and acting as an escalation point for challenging projects as well as helping people to develop their skills and fulfil their potential (including by organising and delivering training on key topics).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- UK senior lawyer qualified into the commercial, media & technology or advertising division of a leading private practice law firm.
- an understanding of advertising technology, the digital advertising ecosystem and a firm grasp of the privacy issues in this environment and a strong grounding in GDPR;
- have strong commercial acumen across a range of advertising matters and be comfortable taking commercial decisions and working closely with senior sales, marketing and creative leads at a country, European and global level;
- strong negotiating and drafting skills. You will be comfortable taking the lead in negotiations, in particular for media sales contracts and media trading contracts, in addition to ancillary agreements such as brand collaborations that extend a brand campaign to encompass events, sponsorships, production and creator engagement opportunities;
- worked closely with sales and marketing teams of various levels of sophistication that are focused on monthly / quarterly targets;
- worked collaboratively to develop new documentation, workflows and best practices and have experience of implementing legal processes and self serve resources which assist a business to scale at pace;
Preferred Requirements
- experience of working in highly matrixed organisations and in an international business is a plus, as are language skills;
- experience of supporting digital platforms is a plus.
