What you’ll do

  • Advising business units on a broad range of global trade related transactions but primarily Core Trade, EAF, Asset Distribution and aspects of ESG in the context of Trade, including bilateral and syndicated trade loan facilities, import/export financing, draft discounting, letter of credit transactions, financial asset sales and participations, export agency finance, and trade service transactions;
  • In addition to providing legal coverage for a broad range of Trade related issues and transactions, the attorney will have primary responsibility for providing product legal coverage for (i) Export Agency Finance facilities (ii) Core Trade Facilities (trade services such as letters of credit and bank guarantees) and (iii) FRRM (Risk distribution, asset sales etc.);
  • Providing advice regarding Trade product structures and documentation and advising Citi business units, branches, subsidiaries and affiliates regarding relevant matters of English law;
  • Responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating the documentation associated with those transactions;
  • Work with Citi control functions such as Regulatory, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Tax on issues affecting the Trade business and will work on regional and global projects and initiatives, such as digitisation;
  • Responsible for coordinating with Citi internal counsel in numerous countries on global issues and managing external counsel;
  • Additional job-related responsibilities and duties may be assigned as required.

What we’ll need from you

  • Suitable experience within secured lending/finance transactional experience at a major law firm or financial institution;
  • Experience with global trade related transactions and trade finance products;
  • Knowledge of cross border transactions and the corresponding legal implications;
  • Knowledge of the ICC Governing Rules including ISP 98 and UCP;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and organizational skills;
  • Team player with ability to work independently; Highly focused attention to detail;
  • Bachelors and Law Degrees; admitted to practice law in England and Wales.
