Who you are

You'll be responsible for and the first point of contact for a wide range of legal matters that arise in the EMEA region. You’ll work on important matters between Twitter and its partners, customers, advertisers, vendors, and users. You will work closely with Legal team colleagues in the region and around the world, as well as with business leaders throughout the company, advising on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to Twitter’s business in EMEA. You will help manage and develop the EMEA Legal team. You will help set the culture and approach of the Legal department and be an important part of our company as it grows.

We're looking for an experienced lawyer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad responsibilities. You need to bring legal smarts, business sense, a strong work ethic, and a good personality because you'll be dealing with challenging legal issues and helping to shape our business strategy. You must have the ability to operate independently and work proactively with various teams across the organization. Ideally, you have worked in-house in the technology, digital media or Internet industry handling a broad range of legal matters.

What you'll do

Responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with Sales, Business Development, HR, Finance, Tax, Public Policy, Corporate Legal, and Trust & Safety teams on issues throughout the region;
  • Negotiating and drafting sales, partner, supplier, contractor and other commercial agreements;
  • Advising on privacy, content regulation, consumer protection, antitrust/competition laws, litigation, and advertising laws and regulations in the region;
  • Advising on employment law matters for Twitter’s offices in EMEA;
  • Obtaining business licenses and corporate entities in support of activities in the EMEA region;
  • Advising on advertising, user safety, legal and other policies applicable to the EMEA region.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of post-qualification experience as an attorney-at-law or qualified solicitor (previous in-house or secondment experience strongly preferred);
  • Significant experience with litigation, intellectual property, internet, privacy, content regulation, consumer protection, antitrust/competition law, litigation, advertising and contract law;
  • Successful track record of people management and budget management;
  • Demonstrated sound business and legal judgment;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: flexible, self-starting and hard-working;
  • Comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid growth with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Must be fluent in English;
  • Law degree with a strong academic record and qualified to practice law in Ireland.
