Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal point of contact and overall head of legal for Binance in Europe, managing both regulatory activities and broader legal responsibilities including litigation;
  • Oversee Binance's regulatory and overall legal obligations across Europe, ensuring total compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, and litigations;
  • Lead the Europe Legal team, shaping the company's strategic vision in the region, including but not restricted to regulatory matters;
  • Support Binance's international efforts in obtaining local approvals, permits, or licenses while also overseeing all litigation aspects in the region;
  • Handle all facets related to regulatory approvals, consents, licenses and litigation, including meticulous analysis and applications;
  • Cultivate relationships not only with regulators and exchanges but also with legal personnel and other critical stakeholders across Europe, adeptly developing networks and promoting Binance's interests;
  • Advise on an extensive range of regulatory and legal issues that could affect existing and potential services;
  • Interpret and anticipate regulations and legal requirements that could impact our business, steering management on necessary adjustments;
  • Coordinate all regulatory audit processes, examinations and litigation procedures. Ensure Binance is always ready for regulatory assessments and legal confrontations;
  • Develop and implement EU-focused legal and regulatory policy and guidance aligning with Binance's strategic objectives;
  • Work in tandem with various business teams, supporting the introduction and expansion of new products and services and bridging the regulatory and commercial realms, all while ensuring legal soundness throughout.

Requirements

  • Qualified to practice law in a leading European/UK jurisdiction;
  • A minimum of 10-12 years' experience in a senior legal role, ideally focusing on regulatory affairs within the technology or financial services sector;
  • Extensive experience from a reputable global law firm alongside relevant in-house experience is highly preferred;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial products including spot trading, margin trading, futures and options, as well as payments systems like credit card networks, FIAT channels, PSPs and wallets, etc.;
  • Possess a robust understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape across the EU.;
  • Proven track record of effectively managing legal and regulatory compliance issues, and experience liaising with regulatory bodies in the EU;
  • Active interest in the cryptocurrency industry and its evolving regulations;
  • Solid experience with product development from ideation to launch, particularly in a financially regulated environment;
  • Exceptional team spirit and a strong instinct for cross-functional collaboration;
  • Capacity to navigate complex areas of law and provide practical, actionable advice;
  • Proactive and willing to get hands-on with challenges, taking a leading role in shaping strategic company decisions;
  • Possess an excellent command over written and spoken English. Proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
