Your mission:
Provide advice on a wide range of legal issues affecting the business of Epson in EMEA. Review, negotiate and draft contracts. Operate with a commercial outlook, recognizing the balance of risk between legal certainty and business objectives.

Given the importance of adaptability of modern living, this position offers three days of remote work per week.
What you will do:
- To be the departmental expert in the legal system of the assigned country or region;
- To be the departmental expert in one or more specialist areas of law across EMEA e.g. competition law, advertising law, data protection, electrical product requirements, consumer law and contract law;
- Legal support and business oriented legal advice to colleagues in EEB departments and EMEA group companies:
- contracts and contractual liabilities;
- corporate law (corporate governance; branch offices);
- competition law issues;
- intellectual property rights (trademarks, copyright and domain names);
- data protection law;
- trade law;
- packaging requirements;
- advertising law;
- (occasional) employment law support to HR.
- Assist in protecting the legal interests of EEB and its subsidiaries and branches in EMEA with a particular focus in Benelux and CEE) in legal or other proceedings and liaise with external lawyers (Specialist litigation experience is not expected; external counsel are normally used);
- Preparation of legal education and training materials, guidance notes and reference materials for non-legal colleagues;
- Commercial contracting: prepare, review, update and negotiate standard form and bespoke agreements – purchase and sale, agency and distribution, services;
- Prepare, review, and update standard form and bespoke legal documents for a range of other business transactions (No M&A requirement);
- Assist in internal projects, working together with management and colleagues (using competencies of a lawyer even if the subject matter is not directly ‘legal’ in character.”
What we ask for:
- Qualified as a lawyer in relevant local and/or international law;
- 3-5 years appropriate post-qualification experience;
- Fluency in English and relevant local language. Proficiency in another European language is beneficial;
- Excellent contractual interpretation and drafting skills (in English and language of qualification);
- Committed to sharing legal understanding;
- Self-starter, yet a team player. Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Self-sufficient using MS Office packages – regular secretarial support will not be available.
