What we’re looking for

The role of Lead Director and Head of Legal Privacy, EMEA, on our privacy and product counselling team, is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who is driven to take a collaborative approach to building privacy and product frameworks that will redefine the digital advertising ecosystem. The candidate who fills this role will be an instrumental legal advisor and business partner to the cross-functional teams building the critical, privacy-focused technologies that will replace third party cookies and build a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet and Connected TV. The candidate will also have deep experience in collaborating with data protection supervisory authorities and have established relationships with one or more of these authorities in the EU or UK.

Reporting to the Chief Privacy and Product Counsel, you will be joining a growing international legal team as a leader and you will work on unique issues in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. As a talented, self-motivated, and experienced legal professional that is excited by taking on complex legal projects, you will be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment in fast-paced, high-stakes circumstances, and must have a proven ability to translate complex legal issues into practical solutions for the company.

The role will focus both on strategic and tactical legal counselling to product and business teams to mitigate legal risk in all phases of product development, and on establishing and maintaining critical regulatory relationships across Europe and the UK. You will have deep experience advising on all matter of privacy laws, with an emphasis in advertising technologies, and will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing legal landscape related to data and consumer privacy.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with the company's product and business teams from the initial stages of product development and beyond to identify potential legal risks and provide risk-mitigation counselling;
  • Build relationships with data protection regulators and external organisations in support of the company’s vision of a thriving, advertising supported open internet;
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the intersection of global privacy laws and advertising technology, and how the use of cookies, tags, pixels, and other mechanisms customise and personalise digital advertising;
  • Work closely with internal business partners to understand their perspectives, processes, applications, projects and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices while guiding them to the successful resolution of projects;
  • Educate employees, partners, and clients about current and emerging privacy issues facing the company and the industry.

Who you are

  • Qualified lawyer with 10+ years of legal experience, including significant experience advising on advertising technology matters (in-house experience on advertising technology legal issues is preferred);
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with European or UK data protection authorities to advance a company’s strategic goals in a privacy-protective environment;
  • Expertise in legal issues impacting the digital advertising industry including self-regulatory guidelines, privacy issues and legislation, consumer protection, and global privacy laws & regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other international data protection frameworks).

  • Builds effective relationships inside and outside the company established on trust, respect and confidence;
  • Someone who is constantly seeking to keep abreast of current events in the wider Privacy community and has a keen interest in the underlying technology we support;
  • Collaborative work style, with the ability to build consensus, and drive for results. A good sense of humour is appreciated.
